In a world full of pressure and full of distraction we want to set this time of six months apart to seek God together and let his presence transform us. Six months of ‘knowing God and making God known’, having the potential to change our lives for good.
Are you willing to set 6 months apart to join us on this journey? Discovering more of who God is and making friendships for a life-time along the way? Then this might be your DTS!
Cammino is the Italian word for path, journey, pilgrimage, walk. In our lives we are all on a Cammino and the DTS is part of that Cammino. None of us have arrived yet. Students, staff and school leaders we are wanting to go further in our Cammino of life, knowing God more and making Him known. For this time we want to invite you to walk together with us on this part of our Cammino. We will go over mountains and have beautiful views. We will also encounter challenging and steep parts on our Cammino, but those we will also walk together, becoming more equipped for whatever lies ahead in the Camminos of our lives.
In the same way that Jesus invited his disciples on a Cammino we are desiring to invite others, inside and outside of the DTS to go on this ‘Cammino’ as well. On his ‘Cammino’ with the disciples Jesus was demonstrating God’s character through his words and deeds. Step by step on the Cammino they were discovering more of who God is, Jesus’ true nature and the empowering presence of the Holy Spirit. We want to walk this same ‘Cammino’ asking God to reveal Himself to us and to reveal Himself more through us.
Fammi conoscere le tue vie, Signore. Insegnami il cammino da seguire. Guidami con la tua verità, ogni giorno sei la mia speranza. Salmo 25:4-5
Make me to know your ways, O LORD; teach me your paths. Lead me in your truth and teach me, for you are the God of my Salvation; for you I wait all the day long. Psalm 25:4-5
God is looking for a generation that is hungry for him. That is willing to say ‘no’ to things in order to say ‘yes’ to more of him. A generation that knows their permanent home is not here, but are looking forward for a home yet to come. (Hebrews 13:14) Our desire is to go on a journey together, discovering how to live a life as a sacrifice to God, living from His goodness, for His Glory.
This YWAM Discipleship Training School (DTS) is a training program that will challenge you in the way you see God, the way you see yourself, the world around us and the message you carry inside of you that this world needs to hear. We are committed to seeing our staff and students launched into the calling that God has for each of us individually, but also corporately. Growth happens in the context of community and we want to be that community that passionately pursues life with Jesus, the place where life and growth happens!
In the Training Phase of this DTS we will take time to learn and grow around 4 big questions: Who is God; who are we in God’s eyes; what is the good news to the world around us; how do we communicate the good news of Jesus to the world around us?
During the Outreach Phase we will continue our journey of growth and discovery, but then in a cross-cultural environment on the mission field. This phase preferably takes places in a culture different from the Italian and outside of Europe, we will be praying and looking into our options with the current travelling situation though.
After DTS you have the opportunity to take more courses in YWAM’s University of the Nations or consider joining staff with our team in Italy, or anywhere in YWAM worldwide. This could be your first step into a life of missions; a life of adventure with Jesus!
-What are some of the topics during the Training Phase?
-What do we do during the Training Phase?
In the training phase we will have classroom times, small groups, one-on-ones, but also lots of times of learning through meal times, fun activities and living together.
-What does Outreach look like and where will we go?
We will send out one or more outreach teams for an 11-week mission trip to a nation that is still to be decided. We feel that God is calling us to be strategic about where we will be sending our outreach teams and we want to build long term relationships. We want to be available for whichever place God will be calling us. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it!
-After outreach do I just go home?
No, after the outreach there will be 1 week of debrief to help you get everything out of this time that God is wanting you to take away. Then we will have one more week of lectures to help prepare you for your next step and to live the most fruitful life you can live wherever God is calling you next.
-Can you tell me something more about the base?
This DTS is run by YWAM Trentino. We are a pioneering team in Italy and we are passionate to see Italy reached with the Gospel and to see a new movement of young missionaries going from Italy into the nations. Our base is beautifully located just North of Lake Garda, where the Alps meet the Mediterranean climate and the Italian food and culture. We’d have lots of opportunities to enjoy the beauty of this land. Some of us love going on hikes, ski trips, rock climbing and all kinds of other activities to enjoy the beauty of God’s creation. But don’t just come because you’re hungry for Pizza. Come join us because of your hunger for God!
We’re excited to jump into this new adventure together!
How can I sign up for this?
